This advocacy plan calls for systemic reform in child welfare practices to ensure that whānau Māori receive support before tamariki are removed from their care. The goal is to reshape how the system operates by promoting whānau and te ao Māori centered services, addressing the root causes of family challenges, and reducing the uplift of Māori children.

The plan draws on findings from the Kei roto tō tātou rongoā research project. It seeks to engage media in promoting a fairer, more culturally informed narrative surrounding Māori child welfare.
